No Child Left Behind (NCLB) recognizes the value of parent participation in the formal education of children. Therefore, under NCLB, all Title I schools receive special federal funding to raise the performance of disadvantaged students. A portion of this Title I funding is set aside for parent training and education programs.
The legislation also has resulted in additional parent involvement requirements for schools that have not made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). Unfortunately, Hayt has not made AYP for more than two years in a row. As a result, Hayt is eligible for supplemental educational services (SES).
Hayt is required to engage parents in the development of the school improvement plan, and the plan itself must include strategies to promote effective parent involvement.
In all of this, parents are being asked to participate in decisions that will influence the education of their children and other students at Hayt School.
Please get involved in your child’s education by getting involved in Hayt School’s parent organizations.
