Kimberly Slota is from Minneapolis, Minnesota and received her Bachelor’s Degree in both General Education and Special Education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2006. She taught 4th and 5th grade self-contained special education for two years in Minnesota before moving to Chicago. This is her 8th year teaching special education in the Chicago Public Schools and her 6th year at Stephen K. Hayt School. Ms. Slota teaches kindergarten through 2nd grade special education resource and inclusion. She collaborates with the general education teachers to plan lessons that meet the diverse needs of her students. She is co-chair of the PBIS committee and is a member of the MTSS committee. Ms. Slota received her Master’s Degree in 2013 from Concordia University in Curriculum and Instruction with an ESL endorsement. In her free time, Ms. Slota enjoys spending time with her friends and family, practicing yoga, and traveling.
