Patricia Meagher

Mrs. Meagher is Hayt Elementary’s Building Coordinator for the Comprehensive Gifted Program. She teaches an integrated block of Social Studies and Language Arts to the sixth and eighth grade students in the program. This summer, Mrs. Meagher was a recipient of a Fund for Teachers fellowship. Consequently, she traveled to the East Coast to study and research the juxtaposition of slavery and the American Revolution. In 2013 Mrs. Meagher participated in a study tour of Germany, awarded by the Transatlantic Outreach Program and the Goethe Institute of Washington, D.C., as well as receiving an Action Research Leadership Institute Fellowship grant from the Chicago Foundation for Education. She has been an instructor for Loyola University and a mentor to several pre-service teachers. Mrs. Meagher graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in English, and from DePaul University with a Masters degree in Education. Mrs. Meagher also earned her National Board Certification in 2009 in the area of Social Studies/History. In her free time she likes to read, cook, and play with her dogs, Scout and Rex.
