Mr. Paul Veugeler is proud to have served as a teacher at Hayt Elementary since 2000. He taught Language Arts and Social Studies in grades 5, 6 and 8 for many years and has recently joined the Special Education Department working with students in grades 3 and 4. Mr. Veugeler has participated in many enrichment activities for students beyond the classroom. Among these activities are Spelling Bee Coordinator, Student Council Moderator, Guitar Team Moderator, Chess Club Moderator, Our American Voice Citizenship Club, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Events Planning/Chaperone, 3 on 3 March Madness Basketball Tournaments, Ping Pong Tournaments, as well as volunteering to tutor students after school in Language Arts.
Mr. Veugeler also participates on committees to support instructional excellence at Hayt including SIPAA school improvement team, Principal’s Professional Leadership Committee, Professional Problems Committee, Grade Level Chairperson, Instructional Leadership Team/Response to Intervention Chairperson, PBIS Committee, Social Studies Committee, History Fair Team and PDS Student Teacher Mentor. He also currently serves as Chicago Teachers Pension Fund Representative and Chicago Teachers Union Delegate for Hayt School faculty and staff.
Mr. Veugeler has a passion for professional learning. He attended Loyola University Chicago where he earned a B.A. in History. He also holds an M.A. in Secondary Education from Saint Xavier University, an M.A. in School Leadership from Concordia University, and an M.Ed. in Special Education from Loyola University.
