Welcome to Stephen K. Hayt School’s new website! Hayt School is a Chicago Public School that serves over 1000 students from Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood, grades pre-k through 8th. Many of our students are from other countries, making Hayt very diverse and culturally rich. Over 30 languages are spoken by our students. Our students are learning German as a World Language; Hayt is the only Chicago Public School that teaches German! Learning German as a foreign language is a great asset to have for future employment opportunities given Germany’s strong economic position in Europe and the world! Q: Why Hayt School?
A: Hayt School provides a great education to the students that attend. Hayt officers a gifted comprehensive program, 1st – 8th grades, middle school algebra, German as a world language to name a few programs.
Q: Who can attend Hayt?
A: Hayt is a neighborhood school so if you live within our attendance area, you’re good to go! Our attendance area is generally Western Ave. to the west, Devon to the north, and Broadway to the east. Between Broadway and Clark St. Granville is our southern border. Between Clark St. and Western, Peterson is our border to the south. Check the CPS website for specific attendance boundaries.
Q: Can I attend Hayt if I don’t live within the Hayt attendance area?
A: Yes, put we need to check our attendance levels of the grade your child will be in.
